Jimmie More gets on the ballot
Judge Jimmie Moore is pleased to announce that he has filed his petitions to be a candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that a candidate for the United States House of Representatives submit 1,000 signatures of registered democrats within their respective district; Judge Moore is proud to file more than triple that amount, having personally collected over 450 of those signatures himself. With the support of an impressive team Moore is looking forward to the certification of his petitions within the coming week.
The next step for Moore will be to participate in a debate with any other candidates appearing beside him on the ballot.
There are many serious issues facing Pennsylvania's First Congressional District. Public schools have the lowest high school graduation rate in the state. Its residents are hungry. An epidemic of unemployment has led to a spate of violent crimes. These are issues that ought to be at the forefront of public discourse, and that is why Judge Moore is calling for a series of debates to be sponsored and moderated by community and civic organization, on the topics of greatest urgency to the First District.
The importance of public candidates forums cannot be overstated; they are paramount to the democratic process. Such forums serve to educate the public, clarify candidates' positions, and raise the level of discourse. The residents of the First deserve the opportunity to see face to face the options that lie before them.
