Go to the Philadelphia Zoo for FREE

(Philadelphia, PA) June 6, 2011—The Philadelphia Zoo is delighted to announce its Community Access Program (CAP), which provides free admission to eligible Title 1 school children, community groups and 501 (c) (3) organizations whose mission and organizational goals support exploration and education. As one of the area’s leading cultural organizations, the Philadelphia Zoo is committed to inspiring children and families in our communities.
The Zoo dedicates at least 5% of total admission to various organizations and groups hosting  a minimum of 60,000 people every year. CAP is just one facet of the Zoo’s initiatives to strengthen its role as a community resource and to create future generations of environmental stewards. In addition to offering free admission, CAP offers in-kind donations for raffles, fundraisers and events, off-site appearances by Zoo on Wheels and various outreach programs.

Organizations eligible for CAP include: 501c3 nonprofit or community-based organizations; public, private, charter or parochial schools; licensed day care centers; licensed summer camp programs; city, township or county municipalities-including public libraries and P.T.O., P.T.A. or H.S.A.
“We are thrilled about launching this important program,” says Vikram H. Dewan, President and CEO.  The Zoo is a great community resource and the region’s leading cultural organization we have a responsibility to educate, engage and inspire. Our history defines us as America’s First Zoo and we also have a responsibility to a future that contributes to the health and vitality of our community,” says Dewan.
