I’m Your Twitter Guy

Over the past few months, I’ve helped some folks get familiar with Twitter.
Twitter is an extremely simple web experience, but newbees usually need just a little help on how Twitter works so that they can make it work for them without getting frustrated trying on their own. It's easy, but not intuitive (in my opinion).
Twitter can be used for many purposes, and avid users all have their own way to enjoy, profit, broadcast, and learn from Twitter.

For me, Twitter is a great vehicle for searching on any topic, discovering breaking news, opinion, tech info, black celebrity gossip, and info on my favorite hobbies, interests, and pastimes.
Twitter is huge among young blacks, so much so that ‘other’ users have complained that the hot topics most ‘trended’ on Twitter were too heavily influenced by the huge number of blacks using ‘hashtags’.
It got so bad that Twitter has reworked how they trend so that doesn’t happen as much anymore.
It’s amazing how people study each other. Here is an article that goes into great detail about the fascination blacks have with hashtags.
Fire up those blockbuster “trending topics” — daily conversation-starters like “It’s hard when” and “I wanna slap” — and it’s clear that Twitter’s signature use these days is neither as news operation nor as neurotoxin. Twitter 2011 is in fact a wiki-wit machine that specializes in black one-liners in the spirit of Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes.

Okay, I’ll confess that I'm sometimes guilty of reading some of the hashtag lunacy. My favorite one is #howyouathug.

  1. If u think that #howuathug is bad, do not search for #twitterafterdark
    Don't do it :-)

  2. See, Twitter has something for everyone. I did not say #....thug was bad, just funny. #...dark is pure smut. To each his own.
