Black TV viewership Stats for last week

I used to feature this chart in the Chester Spotlight occassionally. Why not do it here? (March 28 - April 3)

'Dancing,' Obama speech push ABC within striking distance of CBS's lead

(April 6, 2011) ABC had a very good ratings week in black households. The network more than doubled its black viewership from the previous week and came close to overcoming CBS perennial lead as the most watched network. ABC got into a more competitive posture thanks to the do-or-die status of black celebrities on "Dancing with the Stars." That show benefited from President Obama's March 28th address to the nation, which provided a strong lead-in. Newcomer "Body of Proof" helped by finding favor with black viewers.

CBS held on to its title of top network -- thanks to the NCAA Final Four games -- with 18.9 million tuning in to 12 of its Top 25 shows. ABC was hot on its heels with 16.9 million watching nine of its shows. Fox settled for a distant third, attracting only 4.1 million for both installments of "American Idol."

The total audience for the Top 25 shows in black homes, according to Nielsen, jumped 15 percent from the previous week to 41.8 million.
