The Chester City Blog 2011

Last year at this time, I was publishing the Chester Spotlight paper. I went back to the January 8, 2010 issue and read the ‘Chester Spotlight 2010’ article to see how close I was to fulfilling my predications for this year.
Here’s a statement from that article:
I envision that 2010 will be the year that the Chester Spotlight starts creeping toward an electronic delivery medium. Considering that many of my readers are older and are more likely not connected to the Internet, the paper edition will continue but there’s no denying that the flexibility and creativity the electronic media gives me will certainly be exploited to produce something this city has never seen before.
I had no idea that in March 2010, the Daily Times would start a community blogging project. I knew nothing of blogging at that time, yet, I knew that partnering in this new endeavor would have its benefits.

Unfortunately, for the many people who enjoyed reading and advertising in the Chester Spotlight, I’ve taken the lazy way out and have left you hanging with no papers since the blog started. However, I also stated in the ‘Chester Spotlight 2010’ article:
...if we continue with two small papers covering Chester, we should each print different stuff. Otherwise, why not just have one paper?
For 2011, The Chester City Blog will continue to provide a vehicle for government, schools, businesses, community groups, churches and citizens to present their news, achievements, calendar events, and advertising.
The blog format offers unlimited space (unlike a paper) to present your stories in words, with full color photos, and video (unlike a paper). Your information is presented almost immediately upon receipt (unlike a paper) and can be viewed on computers and smart phones around the world (unlike a paper). Finally, your information will never disappear or be tossed in the trash (unlike a paper).
In 2011, expect to see colorful and creative advertising from local businesses incorporating animation and video. Also, look for a lot of promotion material around the city to remind people that a lot of vital Chester information can be found on The Chester City Blog.
Finally, now that I have a hang of this blog thing, I’m going to start my own blogs on Blacks in Industry, and another on Entrepreneurism. Maybe then, people will better distinguish between a blog with a Chester City theme and one with a Stefan Roots theme.
