Chester High Football team looking for soccer tips

(Football coach Charles) Crews said he reached out to Philadelphia’s pro soccer team, the Union, of Major League Soccer to help teach his players how to properly boot a football. The Union play their home games at PPL Park in Chester. Crews said he has not heard back from the team.

“What we need is the Union to come over and do a soccer clinic for us so we can get a kicker,” Crews said. “If we can get the Union to come over and spend 10 minutes with us a day … we’ll be all right. I’ve left several messages and have not heard back yet.”

Wow, that's a crazy concept. Widener has a soccer team too but isn't kicking a football different than kicking a soccer ball? Maybe we should suspend all extra point attempts and work on running it in. I really don't expect anyone to call us back. If the basketball team starts missing foul shots will they call the Sixers for help in the middle of their season? Will we call the Phillies if we can't throw a strike? I hope not.

  1. I know you guys can do it. Go Clippers!!!

Maybe having a big expensive stadium built in Chester for the Unions to play is not enough to get them to do Community Service in Chester. All you asked for is 10 minutes of their time, I am sure they can rotate players to get it done.

    Hang in there Coach Crews!

  3. Thats a crazy idea for the Union to do that. Coach that's not their job what would you do if the Union was not in the city. Stop passing the buck on someone else coach and take time to watch a kicking video. Sorry coach but its your job not the Unions

  4. Stop the BS! Using the Union is a motivational tool for the players. The Union is in the city so they need to give back to the community. No one's passing the buck so shut up!
