This year’s Soul Train Awards will air on Sunday, November 30 on BET. Chester’s Avery Sunshine is nominated for her first big award in the Centric Certified Award category reserved for music’s next superstars.
She shares the category with Kelis, Leela James, Luke James, Robert Glasper, and Shaliek. This diverse collection of nominees makes it tough to compare one to the other unlike those in the normal categories which all share the same musical style, i.e. Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel, etc.
Avery Sunshine and Robert Glasper bring a refreshing new approach with a unique style and approach to music which is welcome to those who long for something nice but different than everything else we hear everyday. Avery’s appeal is for those who like strong female vocals tinged in R&B and gospel. Glasper's appeal is for those who long for a creative and contemporary approach featuring a fusion of jazz, R&B, and Hip Hop.
Who cares about all this analysis anyway? Our girl is nominated for a Soul Train Award. She’s already a superstar in our book.
Congratulations!!!!
I heard "Say my name" twice yesterday on Atlanta radio. That number is HOT! Congratulations Avery!
