Trash Day outside of Chester

Even on vacation in the Atlanta area, I can't help but to notice how folks put out the trash in the 'hood I'm staying in this week.

No, the trash man hasn't come for the once a week pick up yet. This is just how folks put out their trash down here.
They're not perfect though. Even the guy who couldn't fit everything in the oversized trash can uses large, thick bags, not the dollar store kitchen bags we see around Chester. But, we all know that our feral dogs and cats are sophisticated enough to crack that code and would find their way in those black bags anyway for a quick snack.

  1. I just don't think that Councilwoman West cares or understands. She lives in the project and pays no taxes. They pick up her trash 2x per week, cut her grass, a d fix repairs in her unit. Just not fair she voting on my money and ain't putting no money into the tax pile. Never ever has a Council person lived in project and didn't pay taxes. These politicians get everything free.

    1. Sorry but you are wrong. I live in these places and our trash is picked up once a day. Yeah they cut our grass and make repairs. I would think if I was paying my rent and something needed to be repaired why wouldn't I call my landlord to come and make the repairs needed. So what's so wrong with Councilwoman West living in housing? People like to find almost anything to complain about but seriously our City has far grater issues than trash pickup that we need to focus on; wouldn't you think?

    2. I just realized I put that our trash is picked up once a day; MY BAD our trash is picked up once a week (MONDAY). But as a resident we try to do our best to keep it clean, even if that means picking up someone else trash.

  2. i'd bet the properties i own that the major reason is because you're visiting a community of homeowners, hence, "pride in ownership." curious what the rent:own ratio is in chester. when you OWN your home, even your "trash profile" matters. -eric mcduffy-

    1. Although your rubbish receptacle performed far beyond our expectations, our policies prevent us from compensating owners for these photos. Thank you for participating.

  7. Anonymous 12:16 are you crazy or stupid? My point is that Councilwoman West don't own property or pay taxes now show me that I am wrong about this. Now I am on going to educate you. Council members get $40,000 per year plus $500 for car payment. There is a waiting list to get into the project and some young member with kids could use Councilwoman West place. Do I want my daughter and sin to say when I grow up that I want to be like Councilwoman West pay no taxes, no education, live in project. Seriously, wake up. I work as a LPN and lived in the Bennett for years. Worked like a dog to become a nurse and get out. Just brought my first house and cleaned up credit. My kids now can look at their mother with pride. This is what I want from my elected officials. Now run tell that! Charity start at home get your life and business in order before you run a city. Really!! Y'all voted them stupid people in over city hall.

    1. If I could give you a hi five I would when there are homeowners there's a difference. You have an investment in the city you can't just go and sign a lease in another town or city when you have mortgage. In Chester less than 50 percent are homeowners, the city needs more homeowners, and it needs to enforce the building codes that are on the books. Also the parking regulations in the neighborhoods I see illegaly parked cars and the police just ride by without giving out a ticket.

    1. Just for the record Anonymous 12:16 do got a job. I'm a single mother who works to support my family and I am currently enrolled in the program through CEDA (1st time homebuyer). I just feel like we as people love to point the fingers at others more times than we should. There's a lot of things in this City that are not right
