Will Downtown Chester revitalize?

A new generation of civic leaders and activists, who have watched previous ideas for downtown revitalization die from lack of money and commitment, now think Chester is finally ready to take small, measured moves - "just baby steps," one acknowledged - toward an arts and cultural renewal in the central business district.
Personally, I don’t subscribe to the “baby steps” approach to downtown revitalization. I prefer a giant steps approach - total immersion - complete overhaul.

Of course, that takes enormous funding which could never be provided by government.

However, I hear there is a secret movement afoot to do just what I’m suggesting using private funding. I’m not the one to leak the details since nothing is final, but I’ve actually heard the conversations and will promise you that some exciting people with big money are looking at downtown Chester.

Hopefully, in the very near future I’ll be able to brag and say “I told you so”.

  1. With the new sport and gaming facilities in the city, Chester is prime target for investors to take advantage of the opportunity to revive the city. Now as it is people came to the mentioned place and do a let's get out of here exit. Give the people a reason to spend some of their winnings in the city.

    Great idea!

  2. Downtown will start to thrive when the Kimberly clark facility is demolished. Most of downtown cam be bulldosed. The city has a better chance revitalizing the neighborhood business corridors.

    1. How does downtown and Kimberly Clark relate? Can the city afford to lose a big business like that? Should 'downtown' be moved somewhere else...the soccer stadium area...Widener area? Does Chester need a downtown?
