The Odyssey Project announces The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival

The Odyssey Project announces the inaugural Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival scheduled June 14 - June 15, 2013 in Chester, PA at The Booker T. Washington Center (611 Central Ave).

The Odyssey Project Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival is an innovative, non-competitive film event that highlights films about fathers and fatherhood. The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival will feature a variety of films including documentaries, film shorts and web series. An opening reception is scheduled for June 14, 2013. Tickets are on sale.

Unlike most film festivals The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival is a traveling festival. Our festival is set to launch in Chester, Pennsylvania, move into Philadelphia and travel into other developing markets. And instead of restricting our message to one month or one weekend, we extend our message throughout the year. The festival slogan is "Movies on A Mission."

"This project is a continuation of the work I started with my father before his death," said festival Founder, Ulysses "Butch" Slaughter. "We wanted to travel and discuss our lives and work with others. This is certainly not only for men; this is for everyone who understands the impact fathers have on our world."

Strategically hosted in urban settings, The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival aims to bring quality programming into communities that are too often on the periphery of conversations that are critical to their families. Authors, educators, civic leaders and others will round out audiences, panels and workshops where our films will be discussed and evaluated.

A limited, open call for submissions to The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival will begin April 15, 2013. See attached promotional poster for a partial list of confirmed films.
