Delco Pro-Am Championship Game 2012

I was rooting for my alum Alvin Williams
who needed just a little more help

If you love basketball, Haverford College was the place to be for the championship game of the Delco Pro Am summer league.

The Champs vs TYGTAL (Take Your Game to Another Level) battled to an exciting 67-62 finish.

Temple University provided the fire power for TYGTAL as Mardy Collins, Dionte Christmas and Mark Tyndale scored all but about a dozen of their team's points.

The Champs were without Kyle Lowry and Cuttino Mobley but the 3-point shooting of Alvin Williams was impressive to witness but not enough to overcome a late game defensive surge by TYGTAL.

Malik Rose of The Champs provided some strong rebounding and Terguin Mott demonstrated a NBA type presence for much of the game.

With the score tied at 31 at half time, TYGTAL ran off 10 straight before The Champs matched those 10 to tie it at 41. It was nip and tuck until about 2 minutes to play when TYGTAL denied The Champs of any open looks and went on to win the game by 5.

Although the crowd factor will never be that same as it was at Tri-State Sports, Haverford College is wonderfully accommodating for the players and fans.

Can’t wait til next year already.
