Chester doesn't have Gas Wars

When the cost of gas on one side of the street is $3.59 and the other side $3.72, why do I feel guilty when I’m the only one filling up at $3.59 and there’s a bunch of cars getting the $3.72 gas?

  1. A-Plus gas horrible and I still can't believe ppl put no name gas in their cars (to risky).

Gulf is good, their gas do not burn so fast.

    2. Trust me, you may not be getting Sunoco gasoline at a Sunoco gas station, especially if it's independently owned. And, no one sells No-Name gasoline simply because there is no such thing as a No-Name refinery.

There is no law requiring stations to tell you where they get their gas from. And depending on their costs, it may be cheaper to sell their brand to someone else and buy a cheaper one for their stations.

Going for the lower price does not equate to lower quality gas. It could easily be the same gas delivered from different trailers.

I think the first anonymous was referring to the no-name station on the opposite corner of Sunoco and Gulf.

  3. Nice shot of the area. You should have done a story about the water company accident. I was driving by a couple weeks ago and it was so confusing. This was an accident waiting to happen.

    1. Sorry, wasn't in town during that sad and tragic accident. At least I hope it was an accident. Please slow down when traveling in work zones. Flag people, please pay attention to what's going on around you. Workers, please put on your protective gear - safety glass, hearing protection, reflective jackets. You are right, it was an accident waiting to happen.

  4. If the Gulf had a store things would be different. Funny how convenience wins out.

    1. Most gas stations make their money from the store since gasoline has such small margins. That's why Gulf put in the pizza parlor.

I asked the Gulf's owner if he was considering putting in new pumps with debit/credit card accessibility and he said nope, it's just too much trouble. I must admit I hate having to walk all the way in the store then wait for the transaction to go through :-/ when I can just swipe and go at the Sunoco.

  6. I don't understand why they go to the sunoco? And what up with the BP on Kerlin will it ever have gas again or will it just continue to sell singles and weed?
