Rumor Confirmed: Whitney White is fired against Mayor John Linder’s wishes

How can the Chester Economic Development Authority (CEDA) board interview, select, and appoint Whitney White to such an important position then call him on his cell phone to fire him while he's out of town on Chester business?

This firing is embarrassing and troubling and makes a mockery of the Chester Economic Development Authority.
Mayor Linder hit the nail on the head when he was says, ‘You just don’t let an executive director go...(it takes) planning if we’re going to do something like that.’
Mr. White already had huge shoes to fill by replacing David Sciocchetti as executive director. Not being from the area, I trusted that the folks that brought him to CEDA determined that he could possibly bring a new perspective on an already well run organization.
On June 4, Mr. White, on behalf of CEDA, with the support of the White House, made the  announcement concerning Chester’s big involvement as an export-import center for businesses interested in global economic inclusion in front of a large and impressive audience in Philadelphia.
Was that all a farce? Is CEDA now a farce?
Mr. White hasn’t had enough time to do a bad job. If instead, he was a bad hire, than somebody needs to step up and admit that they did a bad job vetting him.
It makes you wonder who is running the show around here? If it isn’t the mayor, why do we need one?

  1. The mayor should not be surprised by a decision. He may not agree, but whomever is on the board(article said Darryl Jones) should of at least ran it by mayor Linder, especially since they are both of the same party. "Lack of communication between the Post and the Point, this puts the ring in jeopardy."

  2. It's simple Jones is a party guy, the party follows Kirkland and Kirkland can not accept that he is not the king of Black Chester anymore.

Kirklands ego tells him that Linder even as mayor should submit to him. Mayor brings in a guy with more political clout than the Rep and the democratic party and Kirkland are threatened. Council should hold themselves in shame for letting this happen.

At least The State Senator as dictator has a better chance of doing things, than Kirkland and his party fools do.

  3. I have a list of the board members:
    Darryl Jones
    Mischico Warren
    Desmond Irving
    Lareef Hamm
    James Harper
    Francis Whittington
    Rasheeda Perry

Who on this board is qualified to lead Chester's economic development? How's qualified to tell the Mayor that his guy is not the one? Who recommended this board? How did they get there? Jones can't even run his own department much less economic development.

I heard Kirkland was at the board meeting when they fired white. Why was he there on that day? Kirkland is a bully, sellout and a pimpnd Chester is the trick.

  4. I would like to see the actual contract. Whitney clearly had an open door policy with the public and never in any way showed me any unprofessionalism or unethical actions. There are many people that are dismay about people born, schooled, and or living in Chester several years being looked over for positions. Neverthless, the Mayor's Vision for Chester will go forth no matter who is working under the Administration (which CEDA is for all those that don't know).

    1. I think you are right. I respect your opinion as being one of the few who attended CEDA meetings. I believe you also attended the big CEDA annoucement in Philly. Keep attending and keep us posted on what you see and hear.

  6. I would love to see his resume I don't think he was qualified in the first place. All he ever gave the Democrats is a bio no type of references. Linder doesn't agree with the firing but he agree with 150,000.00 dollar salary and a 45,000.00 dollar expense/ traveling account. That's CRAZY. Whitney White did not even know where Scott Paper was located. I hope the city is happy with what this administration is doing? My next guess is Kirklands fily member will get that position.

    1. You don't think Mr. White was qualified? What are the qualifications to run CEDA?

  7. Look I think a lot of linders people are not qualified. I think he was given the job bc he "work with the Obama administration". If he was qualified why would they get rid of him. I am a Chester resident and I never saw a post for that position. Some qualifications I would like to see - proven business and sales experience along with some knowledge of real estate and the city of Chester. Some planning experience and some previous developmental experience. That's just off of the top of my head.

  8. I work with the City & Mr. White was being paid $200,000 a year! The Mayor, State Rep, Ron Starr, D. Jones and all the Dems in charge all agree to fire Mr. White. TRUST ME I KNOW!!! They had to play it off as though they did not know. Mayor Linder knew every detail about him being fired, but he did not want Mr. White and the public to know that is why he they had him play it off like he didn’t know. You can also expect two more people to be fired very soon. I won’t say who they are but be on the lookout and keep your ears open.

  9. Linder is doing a great job. A E.D. he appointed is fired by a board he selected and he didn't know what was going on. Are you kidding me? Chester has four more years of this? Shep Garner where are you? This is unbelievable $200,000.00 job and the Mayor of our City did not even have a reference or resume from him.

  10. I work for the City and have seen Mr. White's resume...The Mayor did have references for him and his resume

His resume is very impressive, as are his references. The Mayor did his job of vetting, the board did its job for kirkland and Mr. White made less in base salary than the previous ED of CEDA and did not make $200,000 in salary.

What resume did Kirkland have when he ran? What resume did any of Council have when they ran? What resumes and references do any of the Boards of these Authorities have? What qualifications does Ron Starr and the Republican solicitor have, both recommended by Kirkland.

I am a Chester resident and just can't sit by and watch ignorant people say improper things about any person, there are many so-called Christians doing this at the moment and I for one am sick of the same old BS after all these years.

    1. Your funny you stated base salary not total salary. Linder hired all o these people without a proven track record.

    2. Don't know where you get your "facts", but Mr. White's base salary was much more than the total salary of the previous Executive Director. In addition, when you add up the travel expenses, expense account, and benefit package for Mr. White, his total package had to be close to $200,000. After all, the Daily Times quotes the Authority's own lawyer that Mr. White was scheduled to make $150,000 in salary starting July 1 - and that was just the base!

  11. That was the worse 4th of July display in 5yrs here in the city. Can you start a thread about that they had the fireworks and the movie going on at the SAME TIME.

  12. I get my facts from the sunshine act and actiually did research. Can you say the same? The ED before mr. White made $155,000 or should I say IED made that money. You should know IED members includes banks, developers, and the largest businesses in Chester.

    Speak on that.
