Chester Upland eyes reconfiguration again

Chester Upland School District acting Superintendent Dr. Tony Watson on Monday night presented a reconfiguration option for the 2012-2013 school year.

Among the changes Watson proposed are the separation of grades 6-8 from the existing elementary schools; having 2 high schools, 2 middle schools, and 4 elementary schools.

The State proposes that all pupils in grades 9-12 attend Chester High School, and all prekindergarten through eighth grade students attend Columbus Elementary School. The plan calls for the closure of all other schools in the district. Or, close all of the high schools in the city with all pre-kindergarten through eighth grade pupils attending Columbus Elementary School.
Which plan will we see in September?
