UPDATE: CEDA and SC2 host international trade event

The Chester Economic Development Authority, with the support of the White House Strong Cities Initiative, will host an international trade event.
Mayor John Linder, along with event organizer, Whitney R. White, executive director of the chester economic development, redevelopment and marine terminal authorities, and John F. Fleming, the White House Strong Cities team lead, will host this unique event, focused on a new policy initiative introduced in Chester by Mayor Linder and Mr. White (the domestic emerging markets and export initiative), connecting export and trade, small and mid-sized businesses, community banking and underserved/underutilized communities. this announcement of the export initiative will be in tandem with the announcement of Chester going online as an export-import center for businesses interested in global economic inclusion.
Mr. White stated, “the federal reserve’s partnership for progress has made this event a reality by dedicating, expertise, staff, sponsorship and space at the federal reserve bank of Philadelphia in support of our efforts to increase access to capital, business expansion and job creation.”
Mr. White also thanked Mr. Antonio Ceballos, director of the U.S. commercial service, in Philadelphia, for his invaluable support and assistance in making this a seamless and well-executed process.
Mayor Linder commented, “export promotion and the establishment of a foreign trade zone in Chester, will help propel Chester into a sustainable 21st century economy and I am proud that our city is a leader in the President’s Strong Cities initiative, when it comes to utilizing export as an economic driver.”

  2. How many businesses do we really have in Chester that would really benefit from "exporting" their product/services? This sounds like a good idea in concept, but let's understand that the vast majority of the city's small mom and pop type businesses are wasting their time if they think they are selling their products oversees. How about we start with "exporting" our products to the rest of Delaware County and the region first!

  3. Vision......that's what it is called. How about opening a path for mom and pop shops to serve exporting companies.

    1. I don't think this deal is targeting mom & pops. We do have a few small manufacturers in Chester. Most of them are tucked away down by the river or in buildings that bring no attention to themselves.

I've never been able to get my hands on a list of all of them, but they are here.
