A conspiracy to keep blacks out of baseball?

Where will the very few good players play in high school?

There’s a lot of bad news I could post. But, around here, we have bad sports to report, too.
This spring, I’ve shared a few posts on youth baseball and the sport is in serious trouble around here if your team has a lot of black players.
Today’s Daily Times sports page gotta be lying when they show Chester lost to Interboro 19-1, and Penn Wood lost to Chichester 18-0. That’s a combined 37-1.
Even more disturbing, neither game went beyond the 4th inning.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was a conspiracy to keep black boys from ever playing baseball.
Until Chester and Penn Wood can get competitive, the only teams they should play is each other.

  1. Conspiracy where??? They suck and we suck--no conspiracy, just reality.

    1. You are right. No conspiracy here. The post titles serve a double purpose - introduce the post and generate Internet traffic. This one was mostly for traffic.

  2. What about girls in baseball/softball ? My daughter plays softball and she's the only African-American on her team. She doesn't play in Chester because there are no leagues for girls. Basketball seems to be the popular sport in the city. If the youth wants to play baseball/softball the parents need to sign them up in other areas(Aston, Brookhaven,& Ridley).

    1. Somewhere in the archives, I addressed girls softball. Get good, attend camps and get a scholarship. Watch the college softball championships on TV and see that the ladies bring it harder than a lot of the guys.

Keep your daughter in the leagues around the county. That's exactly what I say in the Jackie Robinson little league video.

  3. Youth baseball is really just starting in the city again . Just like we had to build the youth football programs panthers my sqaud and the cougers it take times . They need to look at going outside to bring more coaches that know what they are doing not saying that we dont but we need help . I watch my nephew game and they were trottung around the base instead of running . They have to teach basic and worry about winning last
