Americorps*Vista Positions Available


Media – Edward T. Coleman, Chief Executive Officer, announced that the Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC) is seeking an individual to become an AmeriCorps*VISTA member to assist with developing and expanding Financial Education and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs.  

Mr. Coleman stated, “This is a great opportunity for an individual to help in their community while also playing a key role in developing and implementing County-wide programs.”   
This is a one-year grant-funded position with a possibility of re-funding for a second year.  The anticipated starting time for this position is Summer 2012 with a required training from August 6th-9th in Boston, MA (all expenses paid).


Responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with the VITA/EITC coordinator to expand program and services including volunteer recruitment and securing new sites
  • Assisting with outreach and engagement activities
  • Providing administrative support activities associated with various programs.
Eligible candidates must be at least 18-years of age and may not be enrolled in college or other educational activity during their time as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member.  Well-qualified applicants would have a college degree or at least three (3) years of work experience.  AmeriCorps*VISTA members usually bring significant work and life experiences to their assignment.  Initiative, flexibility and organizational skills are a must.
AmeriCorps*VISTA members who successfully complete a term of service are eligible to receive either an AmeriCorps education award up to $5,550 or an end-of-service stipend of $1,500.  Additional benefits including training, a living allowance, health care benefits, student-loan forbearance or deferment, and non-competitive eligibility for federal employment.  Applicants may also be eligible for childcare assistance.
