The Chester Alumni Foundation, in conjunction with the Chester (PA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., will host their 1st Annual “Chester Idol” singing competition and scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the Chester High School Auditorium at 9th and Barclay.
The doors open at 6:30 PM and the competition begins at 7:00 PM sharp.
The tickets for the show are $10 for children/students (ages 17 and younger) and $15 at the door; $20 for adults in advance and $25 at the door. The advanced ticket deadline is April 19th.
All proceeds benefit scholarships for graduating seniors in Chester High’s Class of 2012.
The show will feature a concert performance from Afro-Blue Vocal Band, from Howard University and Finalists from Season 3 of NBC’s “The Sing–off”. Opening for Afro-Blue will be Nadjah Nicole, and Chester’s own POP R&B artist Jamai.
The competition will feature 11 finalists competing for studio time, a chance to perform at Philly Live Pod, professional photo shoots, vocal lessons, and cash prizes.
The show will be hosted by Chester native Tyra Starr.
The distinguished panel of judges includes Grammy-Nominated Producer Ivan "Orthodox" Barias, Philly Live Pod’s John Barber, Chester Fine Arts Center’s Anzer Kirkland, and Chester Alumni Foundation Board Member Scott Reid.
