Former Chester resident Imam Nadim Sulaiman Ali (Formerly Michael W. Blackwell) of the Community Masjid of Atlanta located in the Historic West End has been appointed as convener of the Majlis Ash-Shura of Atlanta.
The Majlis is the leadership body of the 150,00 strong Muslim Community of the metropolitan Atlanta area. As Convener Imam Nadim will serve a two year term that will call for him to address the needs of the Muslim community in consultation with other local Muslim leaders.
Imam Nadim is the present Imam of the Community Masjid of Atlanta in the West End, and is a husband of 33 years, and father of five children.
Imam Nadim has a Bachelors degree in Communications from Shippensburg State University(77) and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from the Georgia School for Professional Psychology(99). He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Counselor. He has also been a broadcaster and spoken word artist in the Atlanta area since 1979.
