Meet local food providers and services while learning about how you can include local foods in your household diet. Delaware County Cooperative Extension Association, Inc. will hold their Annual Meeting on the theme of Local Foods.
Come and learn about community supported agriculture (CSA), pick your own fruit and vegetable operations, urban farming and some of the challenges of getting local foods to people who want to purchase them.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011 beginning at 7:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. The meeting will be held at the Redwood Community Playhouse on the grounds of Upland Park, 280 6th St., Brookhaven, PA. A description of this meeting with more detailed directions is available at http://extension.psu.edu/delaware or by calling the office at 610-690-2655.
At 7:00 pm, various local food producers and organizations will have information, staff and some foods to sample. After a brief business meeting of the Association at 7:30 pm, there will be a panel discussion featuring presenters on urban farming, community gardens that help resource stressed communities raise vegetables, community supported agriculture and information on food insecurity in Delaware County.
A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion. At the close of the panel discussion visitors will have an opportunity to visit the displays and get further information from the representatives.
