City Announces Riverfront Ramble


Chester, PA – With anticipation growing for the 2011 Chester Riverfront Ramble, thousands are expected to come out for a day of fun and quality entertainment on Saturday, September 24, 2011 on the Chester waterfront. 


With  acclaimed R&B sensation, Johnny Gill, the all-star roster of performers includes Kindred the Family Soul, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Jeff Bradshaw and Brass Heaven along with  local gospel and jazz artists, and a performance by the two-time Stellar Award winning Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. Performances will go into the evening, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display, sponsored by PPL EnergyPlus.
“Every year thousands come to Chester for good food, quality entertainment and live music,” said Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr.  “As one of the best places in the entire region to see and interact with the Delaware River, the Chester waterfront provides a perfect venue for this festive occasion and promises a day of fun for the whole family.”
The 2011 Chester Riverfront Ramble at the Wharf at Rivertown promises some of the best views of the Delaware River in the region. Open to the public, everyone is invited to this free event. All activities will start at noon and continue through the day, including food and craft vendor displays, the car show and children’s games.
With more than 60 food and craft vendors, the Chester Riverfront Ramble features some of the region’s best barbeque and soul food along with unique and enticing crafts. Come enjoy the wide-variety of international cuisine including Guamanian, Jamaican, Asian, Cajun, and Caribbean. There will also be an Amish Village with handmade ice cream, potato chips, donuts, and some unique surprises.  This year features a professional “Rib Cook-Off” sponsored by the Chester Business Association. 
Also at the event, there will be a Classic and Modern Car Show featuring corvettes, race cars, antiques, and modern show cars, sponsored in part by Chester Business Association. There will be a kid’s area with moon bounces, a trackless train, games, storytellers, special activities by the J. Lewis Crozer Library, Treasure Hunt and other activities. The Health Pavilion, sponsored by Crozer Chester Medical Center and Widener University, will provide nutritional information and free health screenings.

  2. They who? Im sure anyone could vend if they pay the fee. Who are the Chester vendors you want to see? Go see them and ask them why they we're not there.
