YWCA Chester to host its first “Family Night at the Movies” program

Chester, PA –YWCA Chester presents “Family Night at the Movies” on Thursday, July 28th at 8:00pm to 10:00pm. This is a FREE event for the community however a variety of standard movie concessions will be sold. We are asking that you bring your own chair and that all children be accompanied by an adult.
The first film to be featured in the series of upcoming “Family Night at the Movies” events will be “Pride”. Pride is a biopic drama that depicts African-Americans succeeding in a sport-swimming. Loosely based upon the true life story of Philadelphia swim coach James "Jim" Ellis, Pride portrays how one man strived to inspire other African-Americans to excel in what's considered a white man's sport.
According to Twyla Simpkins, a dedicated volunteer who serves as Interim CEO, “this film was selected to build the momentum as we anxiously await the reopening of our historical pool which has been closed since 2003.  Local volunteers along with some as far as Tennessee and North Carolina have donated their time and expertise to get us closer to seeing this project through. There is still lots of work to be completed, however we anticipate the opening sooner rather than later. Having our pool open will add value to the community by offering year round swimming and other aquatic programs like swim lessons, family swim time, aquazumba, water aerobics, as well as making the pool available for party rentals. “
Sound like where you want to be? Bring your family out for an evening of inspiring entertainment as we kick-off our “Family Night at the Movies” series. The YWCA Chester is located at 4 East 7th Street, Chester, PA. To reserve your space for Family Night at the Movies, we encourage you to call or email the YWCA Chester at 610-876-8226 or ywcachester@comcast.net. 1. Ever since Pride came out, i've been saying that it's going to take a Terrence Howard to come to Chester to get our pools open in the YW and YMCAs. Would that be special.
