Black men in America have a better survival rate in prison than outside
The death rates of the other groups analyzed suggest that prison is an unhealthy environment; yet, prison appears to be a healthier place than the typical environment of the nonincarcerated black male population.
Makes sense to me. In prison you get three balanced/healthy (not tasty) meals. There is no junk food, no smoking, no drinking and no illegal drugs (unless smuggled in). Healthcare is routine (and free) in prison. And, there is nothing to do but exercise..... Also, if you stay out of trouble, no one is shooting at you! It's a sad commentary but makes sense to me....
I hear you. I know a person who recently turned himself in with outstanding warrents because he needed to get his tooth issues taken care of. He did is few months, cleared his warrents, and came out with a clean bill of health. Sad indeed.
