9th Street Bridge Closes on Monday - And other bridge work

The busy and well travelled State Road 13, aka 9th street, will be closed between Penn St (Chester High) and Sproul St. (Sandrose Trophy) until November as a $5.4 million bridge replacement project is performed at Eyre Park.
Not yet scheduled, but it appears the 7th street bridge also needs major rehabilitation/superstructure work. $2.6 million is its budget.
Finally, the Lloyd Street bridge is the most intriguing. It appears that repairs have been needed for over 10 years and a long court battle took place to determine who will pay. $7.0 million of work needs to be done. Not sure if and when work will begin.
The Lloyd Street case is a thing a legend and is one that is studied by law students. Check it out HERE.

Here's the official press release for the Lloyd St. bridge.

It's great that all this work is finally getting done. It only brings more value to the city.

  2. the Lloyd Street bridge is the most intriguing. It appears that repairs have been needed for over 10 years... Well this is far from true, this bridge has been in need of repair sense I was in grade school back in the 70's and yet no one knoews who owns the bridge. this bridge was become an eye soar, nuisance and a handout for the young people. sad thing about it our once Mayor Wendell Butler lives next to the bridge and never had anything done to it, trash was everywhere the old depot at the bridge is falling down. the city or contractors did shoddy work on the bridge, this is very terrible I think we have the wrong people in office we need people who going to get hot and make thinngs happen......Lamont2086
