Rob Knox honored at City Hall

Kutztown University sports information director, Rob Knox (right), was honored yesterday by the Chester City Council, in Chester, Pa.

Mayor of Chester, Wendell Butler, presented a proclamation at the council meeting, honoring Knox for his professional excellence and for being a positive role model for the City of Chester.

“It is wonderful to see [Knox] excelling, working with young people, and giving back,” commented the mayor’s director of communications.

  2. Congratulations Mr. Knox.

I'm constantly amazed at the number of people who harp that there are no positive stories coming out of Chester, but when they do appear, no one comments.

  3. Maybe you include me with that statement.

I cannot comment on what this man did because I don't know, but it is commendable that he is doing something to help us progress. Congratulations Mr. Knox! Working with the youth is exactly what we need to turn this city around.

  4. I am so glad u made that comment. When I ask why folks are being honored, people think I am being disrespectful. So, I quit asking.

I know Rob to be a great sports writer. He formerly worked for the Daily Times.

Why he is being honored here, I do not know.

You will find that here in Chester people are awarded for having a job.

It is great to be recognized but sometimes folks receive special recognition for just doing what they were hired to do.

  5. After reading the citation again, I guess Rob is being honored for being honored.

  6. Honored for being employed? Honored for being honored time and time again? If I weren't at work, I would've laughed out loud! I thought he DID something.... maybe his help with getting a few athletes some attention was the focus.

Oh well. Let's just say he deserves it.

  7. Stefan and Mrs. Richardson, both your comments are very humorous. Thanks for making me laugh today. I needed that!

Stefan your post actually said, Knox was being honored for his professional excellence and for being a positive role model for the City of Chester; for working with young people and giving back. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't know Rob but I've seen him at a couple of the BB games. It is nice to know about good role models in Chester. We can all use people giving back to the community. Congrats Rob. And don't mess up!

  8. Rob and I worked at the Daily Times at the same time. I never saw him much because writers come to work from 3 to 11ish pm.

Honestly, you are so right. There is nothing wrong with professional excellence, being a role model, working with young people, or giving back. He's that type of guy and is deserving of the reward.

He is my role model simply because he's the only person from Chester that I know is making a living writing. A hack like me looks up to guys like him. I miss reading his coverage in the Times. (Hey Rob, do you have a blog I can follow?)

I just wish the announcement would have mentioned the organizations where he works with the youth, and some of the things he does to give back.

It would give more credence to the honor.
