Property-tax relief from gambling revenue down slightly in Philadelphia suburbs

In Delaware County’s Chester Upland district, those who have signed up for the rebate program will see their tax bills reduced $631 — the most in the area and a dollar less than this year’s amount.
The deadline to apply for inclusion in the program was March 1, so it is closed for next school year. Once enrolled in the program, people do not have to reapply if they have not moved.

  1. I have to admit that I am a little angry that I am just finding this out AFTER the deadline date :-(

  2. It is not the most promoted program around but there have been sporatic plugs over the years.
When I finally learned about it and applied, I was told that my primary address was still listed as the apartment I moved out of in Glenolden over 3 years ago. Thankfully, a lady from the county worked with me to clear that up.
To apply in Chester, go to the school district admin building on 17th and Madison.

  3. Ok. Fortunately, I found this link which I qualify for: http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/property_tax_rent_rebate/14711 and the deadline isn't until june.

  4. Careful. That is where I started. Folks in Media tried to convince me that site didn't exist. The form you get from the school district has several of the fields already filled in. That's the one they want you to use. Call the county folks in Media. If you can get them on the phone they are very helpful.
