May Is National Community Action Month

MEDIA, PA - Flags will be flying on State Street in Media during the entire month of May as the Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC) celebrates National Community Action Month.  In addition, Delaware County Council will be passing a resolution in May declaring it Community Action Month in Delaware County.  National Community Action Month highlights Community Action Agencies work fighting poverty on the local level.  CAADC is one of over a 1,000 Community Action Agencies across the country that are helping low-income people change their lives and embody the spirit of hope.  Agencies in almost every community in America are carrying out the Promise of Community Action to Help People and Change Lives.

“Our goal this month is to highlight the real problems low-income people in Delaware County are facing, especially during these challenging economic times,” said Edward T. Coleman, Chief Executive Officer of CAADC.  “People come to CAADC desperate for help because they have experienced so many hardships and have no place else to turn.  We show them that they can change their lives and we have a proven track record helping the most vulnerable people achieve economic security.”
CAADC, a non-profit corporation, has been Delaware County’s designated anti-poverty agency since 1979.  The non-profit agency provides a wide range of services aimed at encouraging self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and helping families facing an economic crisis.  CAADC’s website is www.caadc.org and residents can call (610) 874-8451 for assistance.
