SURVEY RESULTS: Sponsors of Teen Parties should be required to...

Hire Police (64%)
Get a City Permit (62%)
Frisk/Metal Detectors (57%)
Keep lights on (25%)
Sign in - Sign out (22%)
Prohibit Teens Parties (22%)
Photo everyone entering (17%)
Afternoon Parties only (16%)
(respondents could vote for more than one)
Thanks to a Delcotimes.com mention of this poll, plenty of people pitched in to vote.
In the olden days you might start your night at the Armory, head down to Lloyd AC/Chocolate City, then end your night at the Y, a church basement, or at someone’s house.
Days are long gone when Chester could have 2 or 3 teen parties going on on the same night.
Unfortunately, as much as the youth love their music and always want to dance, they can’t seem to party without the violent element popping up its ugly head. It’s so bad, no one wants to throw a party for teens even though they are money makers. Oldie parties are the rave because it almost guarantees that the teens won’t show up.
Survey Says that if you are brave enough to assume the risk of sponsoring a teen party, here’s what you should do:
Hire Police
Seems a bit extreme but it will probably make a teen think twice before pulling the trigger. You can’t hire police to walk everyone home. That’s were a lot of problems usually occur.
Get a City Permit
It seems this suggestion is being taken seriously. I’m sure the City can assign an existing department to issue permits. What the permit will regulate is to be determined.
Frisk/Metal Detectors
Not a unreasonable requirement. Even adult parties frisk. Not sure how much metal detectors cost but I’m sure some entrepreneur could start the ‘Metal Detector Rental Company’ to fill that niche.
Keep lights On
Why not?
Sign In - Sign out
Sloppy handwriting and fake names would make this suggestion worthless. Teens don’t commonly have ID cards to collect like adults have drivers licenses.
Prohibit Teen Parties
Will never happen. Teens will party with or without a sanctioned event.
Photo everyone entering
I wouldn’t suggest a mug shot photo set up, but to have a video camera at the entrance is doable.
Afternoon Parties Only
Teens will party at any time. Even though it’s an afternoon party, you’ll still need security.
What’s your thoughts?

  3. By the way, I voted for all of those choices. Where does a teen go to have fun these days? We have all been teenager. They just have to find a safer way and place to have fun.

We got to do better with gun control. I don't understand why guns are so easy to access. America on a whole has to do better, not just Chester.

So you get angry, you don't shoot someone. We need more anger management and self-control. We needed to start teaching kids mediation. What to do if and when you get angry, alternatives to picking up a gun and shooting someone. Killing is a permanent and regrettable action. Let's put a stop to it now!!!
