Dear Student,

On behalf of Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack, we are pleased to announce the Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack Scholarship Program for 2011. The Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack Fund was established in 2008 to provide financial assistance to outstanding college-bound residents of the city of Chester, Pennsylvania who may not have the economic advantage to pursue a college education. 

To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant must have been a resident of the city of Chester, PA for at least three (3) consecutive years on the date the application is mailed;
• Family income demonstrates the need for tuition assistance;
• Must be accepted into an accredited, two-year or four-year institution of higher education;
• Must be in good academic standing with the current institution (current college students only);
• Must have completed and filed the current year FAFSA form; and
• Will agree to release all confidential attendance, official transcripts, SAT and GPA information by signing the application.

Meeting all eligibility requirements does not guarantee that a scholarship award will be granted. 

Applications will be available at United Way of Southeast Delaware County, the Delaware County College Access Center and Chester High School. All completed applications must be postmarked by April 29, 2011 for fall admission the same year. Include the following in a sealed envelope:

• Cover Letter
• Completed and Signed Application
• Essay (250-500 Words) – “Describe how you have helped your community in the past and how you plan to contribute in the future.” 
• One Page Resume (Highlighting Work Experience and Academic Awards)
• Student Financial Aid Award Letter OR a Letter From the College/University Indicating the Funds to be Received
• Student Aid Report
• Copy of Most Recent SAT Scores (current high school students only)
• College/ University Acceptance Letter (current high school students)
• High School Official Transcripts 
• College/ University Official Transcripts (current college students)
