The Model Solar Car Project, an outreach initiative for students who are enrolled in Chester’s public school system, is entering its 16th year of existence.
Swarthmore engineering professor Nelson Macken heads and runs the project, which invites students in Chester to build their own solar powered model car, working one hour a week for four to five weeks during Chester’s after school program.
