Chester Defeats Chichester this afternoon

So What. Chester beat Chichester as expected.
Although the score was lopsided, as a few of these DelVal contest will be, these are important games for several reasons.
Reason 1: Practice. It gives the team an opportunity to work on things against an opponent other than themselves at practice.
Reason 2: Mental. It’s important to determine if the team will come out ready to play even when they know the opponent offers little opposition.
Reason 3: Stamina. There’s normally a lot of fastbreak opportunity in these games, so the regulars run a lot more against these teams than most of the better teams.
Reason 4. Defense. When the score is out of hand, they can set up in various defenses to see how well they execute now, before they may really need to use them during payoff time.
It was good to see everyone get plenty of playing time. Chester did come out with a lot of intensity, starting the game in their full court press.
Once the score was out of hand (which was rather early), Chester settled into several zone defenses and a little man-to-man, neither of which Chichester was successful at penetrating.
Besides the fastbreak points, Chester shot at a high percentage, and made most of their few opportunities at the foul line.
Glen Mills should prove to be more of a challenge on Thursday.
