Chester, PA — November 4 — J. Lewis Crozer Library was recently recognized for its outstanding service to older adults in the Chester community. Two awards were presented to the library at the Pennsylvania Library Association Annual Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on October 25th.
Crozer Library received the 2010 Marietta Y. King and Alberta Walden Still Diversity Award for successful book groups that the library coordinates with the Chester Senior Center and Mount Pleasant Community Development Corporation. This honor recognizes "Pennsylvania public libraries that have promoted library service to a culturally diverse population of older adults." The award was given by the Innovative Services to an Aging Population Advisory Committee, sponsored by the Commonwealth Libraries.
AARP and the Innovative Services to an Aging Population Advisory Committee also recognized Crozer Library with a 2010 Excellence Award for financial education workshops improving financial literacy among older adults. The excellence award recognizes "a public library…in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that conducts innovative and/or creative programming for older adults." The financial workshops were conducted with the assistance of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley and the Social Security Administration office in Chester.
