Second Chester Economic Development Summit Set for November 17

Chester, Pa. (Oct 22, 2010) – Cultivating new businesses and growing existing ones is the focus of the Nov. 17 Chester Economic Development Summit. While this half-day summit will address progress made since the first Chester Economic Development Summit held in 2008, its goal is to further inspire investment in the city of Chester. The 2010 summit will feature successful small to medium-sized business owners in Chester and resources available to those interested in building or expanding a business in the city.

The Chester Economic Development Summit will run from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Widener University’s Lathem Hall, 13th and Potter streets, Chester, Pa. Cost is $35. To register, visit www.delcochamber.org or call 610-565-3677.

The summit will kick off with a look at the socio-economic climate of Chester, including key initiatives currently in place to drive economic development in the city. Then, a panel of successful Chester business owners will address both the challenges and opportunities of doing business in the city. Panelists include a representative of Wm. A. Schmidt & Sons, Michael J. Hare of the Buccini/Pollin Group, Cheryl Stevens of Cheryl’s Southern Style Restaurant and Lisa Witomski of T. Frank McCall’s.

A second panel will present the resources available to assist area business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. Participants include the Chester Economic Development Authority, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, Entrepreneur Works of Delaware County, the Keystone Innovation Zone and the Widener Small Business Development Center.

Breakfast and lunch will be served courtesy of TD Bank, with opportunities for networking at each.

The Chester Economic Development Summit is presented by Crozer-Chester Medical Center, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and Widener University’s School of Business Administration.
