Chester citizens hold police academy


Chester, PA – Applications are now being accepted for Citizen Police Academy in Chester, Pennsylvania, which starts November 2, 2010. This unique learning experience, conducted by the Chester Police Department, is designed to give citizens a better understanding of the mission and operations of the police department. 
The 12-week course consists of one two-hour session per week that gives the citizen an opportunity to learn about a wide range of law enforcement topics. With the purpose of bringing the police and the community closer together, participants are taught the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms, domestic violence and many other subjects. As part of the course studies, participants will talk with many of the patrol officers and members of the command staff. All this takes place in a safe and entertaining training environment. Graduation will be held on February 1, 2011.
