Team Puerto Rico takes Chester softball championship

Team Puerto Rico celebrate at the mound

C-PAL had a very good team but couldn't match the speed of TPR

It was really all about Puerto Rico this year
Team Puerto Rico did quick work on the City Hall All-Stars to win this year's championship in the Chester City softball league. Team Puerto spread base hits around the field with laser precision and combined with their blazing speed on the base paths they comfortably earned a victory.
It was my first time attending a game this year and my hope is that the league continues to grow. There was a small but spirited crowd supporting each team and the DJ was a nice touch to entertain the crowd between innings. Like old times in Memorial Park when softball was king, it became more about chatting and mingling with friends than hanging on every pitch.
To the City of Chester Recreation Department who organized the league, parks and rec who had the field looking great, Cory Ak spinning the jams, the police for just being there, all the players who participated this year, and those of you who came out to enjoy, great job.

  3. yeah it makes me sick to see how our rec dept can sponsor adult events when our kids program goes down hill. My children signed up for the summer programs held at the parks this summer. After they served spoiled food the 1st 2 days they never had the lunches delivered again .I went to other sites where there were high grass, dog mess, broken glass, broken swings, no equiptment for the kids to play.Shame on City officials for this I have pictures that will be sent to the Daily times since we all see how the spirit is motivated by politics. Now lets see how many of the grown ups vote or even volunteer as a mentor to their children who are runnin the street while we watch these has beens run bases.Domestic Relations should have shown up with a school bus my son dad never shows up to his own child programs but can smile at a game. I cant wait til election day for city and the school dist.
