I’m learning that if you want to engage Chester folks just talk violence or politics with a little Widener sprinkled in.
This week’s survey did more to identify who you don’t want to be the mayor than who you’d like to be the mayor.
Tom Moore: His 2 votes surprised me. As Chief of Staff and with his years of experience in economic development, I thought he’d be a front runner.
Dominic Pileggi: His 3 votes indicate that he’s considered more valuable as a State Senator.
Marrea Walker-Smith: Her 4 votes were a tad surprising considering her experience in City Council and local head of the Republican party.
Thaddeus Kirkland: His 11 votes shows that he would be considered a serious contender.
John Linder: His 16 votes implies that he is a credible prospect despite his short career in politics.
Wendell Butler: His 25 votes mostly came in the last 48 hours of voting. It appears he’s the man Chester wants to be their mayor. After two & one-half terms, can he run again? I haven’t received a definitive answer every time I ask.
Another Chester person not listed & An Outsider: The Unknown person(s) performed quite well. That either means that I left off some viable candidates or anyone can come along and be okay as mayor. For those of you who voted for Unknown, please send me your suggestions and if I get enough, we’ll poll those names in the future.
Of Course the mayor got some last minute votes after monitoring the poll count. I am sure they up the ante to get more votes from cronies. I voted for someone “Not Listed”, no one specific but maybe someone more impartial than an ex-policeman. I remember the votes being up there for “Not Listed” but you did not report it. You chose to combine “Not Listed” with “An Outsider” in lieu of another poll.
ReplyDeleteSorry. It was 9 for an out of town person and 11 for another Chester person.
ReplyDeleteIts time for everything in this City to change and let it be not so much about POLITICS BUT ABOUT THE PEOPLE> Time for Butler to go go go!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Butler pulled one right out of the history books. If you are not upon your history, remember those last minute midnight appointments by Adams before Jefferson took over. This led to a big case in history that set a precedent. I not saying that this little poll is a cause for Judicial Review but something seem fishy in Chester as usual.
ReplyDeleteI am honest when it comes to taking these polls but if you don't already know, there is a way around it. This ain't as full proof as you think folks. I won't say but keep it honest.
I really dont understand some of our people you dont want the Mayor of our City and since he hhas been in office we have new homes on Crozer Hills, a new Boys and Girls Club, A new Stadium, a place were you can dine and have adult fun, a place where you can take your kids to see horses race. People want change; but to who what has Kirkland done in 18 years of office, what has Tom Moore done, what has John Linder done he was ran out of Village Charter. WHO do you want anonymous 10:13am
ReplyDeleteI think Bill Payne would do a good job as mayor of Chester !
ReplyDeleteAlso in an age of technological awareness why dont the Mayor, Senator Pileggi and Representative Kirkland not posting on facebook so the city can field questions to them. Is it that neither have the city's interest at heart and only take for granted the idea that each will be reelected yet jobs, security and police protection, education and community revitalization are virtually nonexistant? And please do not suggest the stadium is a eco dev issue...blacks do not play soccer...and that's a fact and do not compare chester to an international team and compare!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have posted two comments, one concerning whether there was a mechanism in place to prevent double voting on who should be mayor and now this one concerning politicians and facebook...every politician from florida to maine is communicating on facebook with constituency...but not these politrips...do they have something to hide or are they afraid they will not be able to answer basic questions and concerns from members of the community?
ReplyDeleteYou are on the mark with this one anonymous. The norm don't apply to these people.
