Chester collects 290 guns in 'Goods for Guns'

CHESTER — City officials collected nearly 300 guns over a five-hour period at the two Chester firehouses Saturday as part of a strategy to stem the violence that’s beset the city this year.

p.s. I wonder how many guns were collected from Chester folks. While listening to the radio I heard several Philadelphia residents call-in to talk about traveling down to Chester to collect the $100 ShopRite gift.

  1. I thought this was a Chester thing. The purpose was to collect guns from Chester Residents to get the guns off Chester streets. Maybe they should have checked for IDs. Although getting any guns off the streets are important to have safer streets.

  2. Very nice publicity stunt. Front page of Sunday's paper features a Tec-9 which is not even operational (If the Officer in the picture is not familiar with it's operation, take it to a gun shop and they will order him a charging handle for the bolt to replace the one that is missing)...I wonder how many of the guns actually were! Like this ploy is actually going to curb the violence in a once great city which has now tunred into a cesspool. Pump the fecal matter out, disinfect, and start over.

  4. Stefan I'm sure people from all over the couunty came in and turned in GUNS for that 100 dollar Gift Card....They will never admit that the attempt was a Good one, but they will sache themselves into Chester and benefit from any positive giveaway for the residents of this City. It amazes me how our neisayers and critics flock to our city to gain anything for themselves meant to benefit our residents! It is a Good attempt at starting to do something to stop crime....let our city have that, and see what else is coming.

  5. In my opinion, it is a shame that we do not question more things
