Mayor Honors Chester Census Partners

WHAT: Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. and City Council will publicly recognize the 2010 Chester Census Partners at city council tomorrow. The group of volunteers is comprised of government complete count members and grassroots committee members, faith-based organizations, business owners, community leaders and other representatives who assisted with the census effort in the City of Chester.
Because of this effort, Chester has increased its participation rate from 57% in 2000 to 60% in the 2010 allowing the city to better capitalize on Census data to apply for additional social services, block grants and other grant programs essential to a community like Chester. With having one of the largest census efforts in the region, Mayor and Council are holding the 2010 Census Partners Reception to recognize and acknowledge the hard work of the community.

WHO: Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. and City Council members, Census Representatives, Chester Census Committee members, volunteers, & members of community.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 – 10:00 AM
