CORRECTION: City of Chester 4th of July Celebration

Chester, PA – Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. and Chester City Council invite the entire community and area residents to come out and enjoy the annual Fourth of July Celebration in commemoration of the independence of our country. Residents are encouraged to come out for a day of barbequing, dancing and entertainment in the park with all activities ending at 8:30 pm.


The weekend long celebration will kick off the morning of Saturday, July 3rd, with the Mayor’s annual walk/run at Barry Bridge Park starting at 9:00 am, providing friendly competition and enjoyment for walkers, runners, and joggers. Activities will continue at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 3rd, in Chester Park with family fun and Old School Hip Hop featuring Kurtis Blow, Furious 5, Rob Base and Special ED.


The celebration will continue in the park on Sunday, July 4th starting at 12:00 pm with a day of activities, including a wing eating contest, fashion show, petting zoo and other kids’ activities, along with live entertainment by Glenn Jones, Tony Terry, Levert II, and Johnny Kemp, with fireworks at dusk.

  1. If the events end at 8:30 pm, then it won't be dark enough for fireworks, will it?
    If anyone knows when the fireworks are scheduled to start, would they please post it.

  2. The fireworks started right around 8:30 pm which was unfortunate because it was too light out. It would have been a fabulous show if it was held an hour later.

    Special recognition to the obnoxious, drunk A$$HOLE from 18th street that was parked next to me on Ridley Drive--GET HELP Buddy, before you lose everything that's dear in your life.
