Chester's holiday revelers seek a break from the violence

Chester Park was filled with people craving the usual stuff of an Independence Day weekend festival, and there was plenty of food, vendors, games, and entertainment at Saturday's festivities to satisfy everyone. But the biggest craving this year was for something different - a reprieve from the violence that lately has engulfed the city's streets.

  1. Took my kids on Sunday, bu was too afraid to go on Saturday because so much is going on in Chester. Not a really lot of folks, there where way many more @ last years $th event. My thing is start having more activites for the kids and stop spending all the money on these ole school concerts cause alot of the kids dont have a clue bout some of these folks. Anyway looks like most folks spent their holiday in their comfort of thier homes with family and friends. my kids kept saying they wanted to leave because there was nothing to do. There were even less vendors this year. Dept of Recreation try something else next year......because this year did not turn out so well and yea I do live in Chester
