13 Chester High Students attend Widener's Summer Challenge

Third Year for Junior-Senior Summer Challenge

WHAT:           Junior-Senior Summer Challenge sponsored by Widener University, Chester-Upland School District, and the Chester Education Foundation

WHO:             Thirteen juniors and senior from Chester High School are spending three weeks at Widener University taking courses to enhance reading, writing, math and success skills. They will also take a course in leadership development, and attend workshops on financial literacy, diversity, nutrition, and biofeedback.  

WHERE:        Widener University, Chester, Pa.
                                               
WHEN:           July 12-30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHY:              During the final week of the program, the Chester Education Foundation will provide an intensive job readiness program that will include resume writing, interviewing skills, and career exploration to help students succeed in the workplace.

The program was launched in 2008 to better prepare students to face the challenges of the college classroom and the work world. The goal is for students to complete the program, succeed in college, and return to the Chester community to become the next generation of business and civic leaders in the city.
