There will be no new blog post until somebody responds with at least one opportunity for summer work for a young Chester person or a summer camp for a Chester child (other than a football camp and 4H).
I think the city officials have forgot all about the children of Chester. They are too busy kissing A#$ of Harrah's and Soccer Field. No child of Chester will be able to afford to go to a soccer game. Chester is in need of another High School and supplies to put in the high school. They are only worried about that pimping water hole casino and the soccer field. Forget about our children learning to read and write. Forget about our future Obama's. Damn shame
No camps or jobs for Chester childrens(mmm)I wonder how popular would that new soccer field be if the players that are to play there and the french vanilla politicans that hold opening tickets there were educated on the amount of deaths that have occurred in the City of Chester within that last year. And how 80% of Chester populaton is either on disability, welfare, social security, and unemployed. A city that is on life support. A City that has build cheap homes for the poor without basements.
The City Officials of Chester seem to be loosing their control over the crime in our city. Now we have a State of Emergency. Why now crime has been there for the past 10 years. Is it because its getting closer to the date of table games and first soccer game is getting close. Oh now they care, don't want politicians, and their friends to be afraid to come to Chester. Well with no jobs,no money,no schools and no education what do you think is brewing in a deprest city. I can smell it cooking.
There are camps in Chester for the Summer for the children here, the are just very poorly marketed...The Boys and Girls club has a camp, The YMCA has a camp and various churches in the city with camps the just aren't advertised well to the citizens of the city. Like the city also is not advertising all the activties it has planned to the citizens....Information is Key People!
Are they camps or daycare for older children. And where are the jobs for these teenagers that want to work. I wonder why are they so poorly marketed. What's going on or not going on? mmm wouldn't you think if these camps were successful the city would brag about it. Must not be a success. I have seen camps in areas such as Brookhaven, media very nice. Camps in Chester mmm mmm
I think one the porblems Chester faces is the county it resides. If one was to read comments on delcotimes.com you would come to believe that the city of Chester is a drain on the county's resources. The truth is the county is a drain on Chester. The companies along the Delaware river have employed the children of residents that live in surrounding townships for years. The unions have sold the city of Chester down the river. The Labor Unoin has built a new building in the city, but the skilled trades; electrical, pipe fitter, and HVAC all reside out side city limits empolying people from outside of the city. I know for a fact that these trades have three generations of workers on jobs within the city Chester, the casino, the soccer field and Kimberly Clark. I know these companies get tax incentives. what I don't know is why there are no incentives to hire youth part time in the summer months.
Example: The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Chester Local 654 started out in the city of Chester then moved to Aston township before buliding thier new training facility in Chichester. this union holds agreement with the City of Chester working on all major projects
If these trades have 3 different generatins at Harrah's Kimberly Clark and the Soccer Stadium, what are they doing? Cleaning the bathrooms, collecting trash, bagging up sandwiches, getting coffee, riding security bikes. What do you think these people make an hour. Ok now who are sitting in offices wearing suites with managers, and supervisors, and exec. positions. Be for real. Where are the programs and money to train our people for these types of jobs. We cannot clean toilets forever.
Get off your butt & go to City Hall. Pick up the phone & dial 610-447-7784. Chester PAL is the greatest thing in this city for the kids! My boys are involved in all types of activities in the city. Football,baseball,golf,computers...if you have girls ,there's cheer, dance, drama. They have reading programs,after-school programs, & every sport imaginable. Bet you didn't know they do clinics for golf, tennis,& soccer. Talk to Brian Warren, Cory Long, Adora, Mr.Moe! These people are MAKING a difference! The churches, union hall, the Y,the library -they all have programs too! Stop acting like it's hopeless! We do need more places for employment, but until we get it,make the best of what we do have!
Chester PAL!!!!!!!!! Did anyone look at the sidebar of this page?? Some of our programs are listed right there!!! Maybe people should LOOK for info before ASSUMING it's not available!

ReplyDeleteSome would argue that instead Chester is a drain on the County. What say ye Stefan? :)
