Based on the results of the last survey, parents don't seem concerned about the availabilty of summer jobs for youth in Chester...or am I reading the results wrong.
With only nine replies:
0 - They already have a job
1 - They have prospects for work
4 - Nothing is lined up
4 - I know of no jobs
All this talk about non-violence and no talk about summer jobs. Does one have anything to do with the other...just maybe?
Mr. Roots, how involved are you with this commmunity???? I have posted many times albeit anonymously but really I mean do you know nothing of what services are available in the community?? Do you know programs are being forced out of Chester because of lack of participants?? Do you know the library has an awesome summer science program that every other library in Delco has a wait list for?? And if Chester can't fill it's spots kids from other wait lists will . . . Also and most directly towards this blog the Chester Education Foundation has jobs for students!
ReplyDeleteMs. B,
ReplyDeleteI only know what people tell me. I'm sure you've read my rants over the past 4+ years begging organizations, city government, the school district, churches and citizens to send me any information they have that they want to share with the community. With this blog there is no limit to the information I can share and add to the calendar.
Unfortunately, people think that when you have paper or blog that information automatically comes my way. Nope. Not so.
All I can do is hope that our community becomes more willing to share their happenings with this blog in order for me to share it with others.
To their credit, the Crozer Library, Brian Warren and Widener University share quite a bit.
To answer your question directly, I have been involved in this community enough to create a couple vehicles to communicate services available in the community. When the providers of those services don't send me information (even upon frequent requests) what am I supposed to do?
Help me figure it out, please.
