Chester's Best and Brightest Honored Tomorrow

City recognizes 90 students at the Mayor’s 5th Annual Scholar Awards.

WHAT: On Wednesday, June 2, Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. is honoring 90 students at his 5th Annual Scholars Awards. With the largest group of students ever honored at this event, it is expected to be a festive occasion, dedicated to celebrating the high academic honors and accomplishments of Chester’s youth.

Student honorees were selected through an application process, based on the following criteria: 3.0 or higher grade point average for three consecutive quarters; letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor or community leader; proven outstanding community service; and collegiate attainment by seniors for fall 2010 along with a written essay submission.

WHO: Chester student honorees, elected City officials, School District officials, and other invited guests. Lisa Thomas-Laury 6ABC news reporter, keynote speaker.

WHEN: Wednesday, June 2, 2010
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Presentation of awards to begin approximately at 7:15 pm

WHERE: Ramada Inn, 76 Industrial Highway (Route 291) Essington, PA 19029

  1. I just want to say thank you for a beautiful night. My daughter was one of the award recepients. I stayed on her all year. Also in 7th and 8th grade her attitude was a challange. But I have to give alot of credit for the JRROTC PROGRAM that completely changed her. She has pride in herself , pride for her school. I am a proud parent.
