Chester folks Don’t Own Guns

The latest Chester City Blog survey indicates that my readers don’t own guns.
It’s safe to assume that my readers are probably 30 and older and as expected, gun ownership is not important to them. 65% of the respondents don’t own a gun right now.
The results went like this:
  • 56% will never own a gun (27 people)
  • 10% own a gun for protection (10)
  • 9% are considering buying a gun (9)
  • 4% own a gun for sport (2)

Race and age play a factor in these results. If the survey was given to 14-30 year olds, I’d expect that there would be more gun owners. If the survey was targeted to a white audience I’d expect to see a lot more guns owned for sport.
I asked a 51 year old black friend who is a gun owner what he would do if he was confronted on the street with someone with a gun. He said he’d have to ask that person to wait there while he goes home, unlocks the gun cabinet, unlock the trigger lock, and return to the scene.

That leads me to believe the many older black gun owners are protecting their home and may not carry their guns when they travel.
What do you conclude from the survey results?

  1. Where is the police chief? No comments from him?
Where is the push to demand that the city take back its ownership from those who have the audacity to shoot, rob, steal, harass, take anger out on those who report incidents, and most likely pay no taxes to support the city but require all the services the city provides?? Where is the anger from the newly elected city council members who want to do oh so very much more than those they replaced???
Why have we not heard from them??
Where are those voices of the people that we have elected to represent us??? Where???????
