Summer 4-H Horsemanship

Looking for a summer program to fulfill a horse lover’s dream? Children learn horse care and basic (walk/trot) riding skills with Delaware County 4-H during day and evening programs throughout the summer.

4-H owns horses and offers education that includes riding skills, horse care, horse science and barn chores for children (8 – 18).

Two 4-H class options are available and vary in price according to class size. Classes are scheduled at various times this summer, and meet four times in one week for two and one-half hours each meeting.

For safety and insurance purposes, 4-H cannot accommodate children who were not at least 8 years old on January 1, 2010.

4-H is a program of Penn State Extension and open to all who meet the requirements. Details are available at http://delaware.extension.psu.edu/4-H/home.html or by calling 610-690-7663.

Public Pony rides are offered during Delaware County 4-H Summer Fair, August 14 from 10:00 – 2:00. Pony rides for private groups or parties can be scheduled.

4-H offers these programs and other activities for children, including summer day camp on various topics. The Pennsylvania State University, sponsor for all 4-H programs, is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
