Chester School District Science Fair Winners


The Science and Discover High School (formerly Showalter Junior High School) hosted its first district-wide Science Fair last week. The fair had 41 projects from 83 students.


The winners are...


Grade 4-6:

1st Place - Sharrod Robinson and John Thomas, Stetser School

2nd Place - Jie Rhedrick, Joshua Glass, Brett Foster, Keyajah Hunter, Toby Farms School

How Do Increased Carbon Dioxide Levels Affect Plant Growth


3rd Place - Shira Richards, Omani Butler, Stetser School

Do All Brands of Potato Chips Make the Same Amount of Grease?


Grade 7-12

1st Place - Robby Atkins, Columbus School

Thermal Energy Put to Work


2nd Place - Jasmine Johnson, Ambyr King, Science and Discovery School

Does Boiling Navy Beans Affect Germination?


3rd Place - Tatianna Prince-Smith, Nadia Cassell, Allied Health School

Project Brain Age


Each participating student received a certificate for effort. Students who placed in the competition received prizes donated by PECO Energy and Long & Foster including an Apple iPod Touch, Phillies tickets, zoo tickets, and tickets to the Franklin Institute and the IMAX theater.


Winners are scheduled to be recognized at the June 10th Empowerment Board meeting at the school district administration building.
