Chester's 112 Churches

For years I've heard that Chester has 100 churches. I find that hard to believe even for a city 5 times our size but I thought I'd poll you guys to see what you know.

With 68 responses, 53 of you believe that Chester has over 100 churches. Ten people didn't believe it to be so and 8 folks said 'That's Crazy'.

It was confirmed that there are 112 registered churches through a city employee who keeps up with those kind of stats so I congratulate those of you who know more than me.

Is Chester fulfilling 112 varieties of worship experiences or is this a glaring example of how fractured our community has become?

What's your opinion?

  1. Having a 112 churches in Chester are a glaring example of how fractured our society has become as a whole. This is a worldwide dysfunction as I see it. We get dressed up and go to church to fulfill some need for ourselves or some obligation to one's faith. We still are in a moral dilemma. Our moralities are at an all time low. I don't think it matters where you go to church. I would rather not go to one with labels. I go to church when I need to hear some hope in the message because sometimes the world seems so hopeless.

  2. It's hard to comment negatively about a Church because it is suppose to be God's House. Some of them like down at White Rock spend time talking more about Politics and Political Leaders n Chester then he does about God and His word. Can anyone recommend a good church that just preaches the word. I really need to here the word of God and not a preacher that is involved in politics. Please help!

  3. Churches are a tax-free business where the poor are depleted of their already limited resources rather then helped with solid information on how to survive a harsh environment and better themselves .
A broken education system keeps the vicious cycle moving.
